LBC of ARMA - Spring Seminar - Pieces of the Puzzle - Day One of Four
Please join the Liberty Bell Chapter of ARMA for this year’s Spring Seminar. We are experimenting with a new approach where we extend the sessions over multiple days for an hour or so each day. Join us for all the sessions or just for those that interest you most. For Liberty Bell Chapter members there is no charge. Monday, April 24th:
Keynote: 10:00 AM Robert Smallwood, renowned thought leader in Information Governance. Robert has published eight books on various groundbreaking IG topics (including the world’s only IG textbook), designed and conducted key research surveys, and trained thousands of professionals worldwide in IG. Smallwood is Founder and Chair of the Certified Information Governance Officers Association (CIGOA), Founder & CEO of InfoGov World Media, and the Institute for Information Governance, which conducts industry research and training. He holds an MBA from Loyola University, and is a certified CIGO®, IGP, and CIP.
Topic: The State of IG in 2023 The session will review results of the 2022-23 Global IG Survey, the 2022 M365/Purview Role in IG Survey, key points from the 2023 USA Practitioners Salary & Compensation Survey, as well as commentary on the new ISO standard for Information Governance

He brings a special set of skills to assess and understand business process requirements and then define automation solutions that leverage the current set of technology tools.

Topic: The People Problem: Why employees are the biggest obstacle to good records management (and what to do about it) One of the biggest challenges facing records managers is the employees themselves. Tom will discuss the political, cultural and psychological obstacles standing in the way of good records management and will offer solid strategies to clear these hurdles.

As a consultant for Mattern, Nathan is focused on emerging technologies and their application in the legal environment, driving results through Mattern’s customized RFP process, and overseeing service, technology and policy implementations.
Topic: How to Get Out of Offsite Records Permanently -Every organization should have a goal to get out of offsite records permanently. It’s costly and does not assist the new digital landscape. On top of this monthly costs are growing due to a lack of destruction, prohibitive permanent withdrawal fees are an obstacle to implementing an effective information governance strategy and consolidation is too expensive resulting in firms with an inefficient mix of multiple vendors in different parts of the country providing services.
