A panel of experienced professionals with IG/RIM, Tech and Consulting backgrounds discuss the top trends recently seen across multiple industries and related disciplines. Join this interactive session to ask questions and share your experiences to shape a thought-provoking discussion including:
- the relationship between digital transformation and IG/RIM
- how entities are addressing legacy content and how they have shifted focus to the future and sustainability
- collaboration with stakeholders, how they have adapted, and who is driving programs and projects
- the focus of organizational programs and engagement with consultants and service providers
- the state of IG/RIM and related technologies (e.g., discovery/file analytics tools, data protection, content services platforms, etc.)
The panel will open with their hottest topics and respond to attendee interests with their substantial insight.
Panelists:
Donna Severino (Moderator)
Donna Severino, CIGO, CRM is a Director at Societe Generale where she leads the Records and Information Management Program for the Americas Region. Among her various responsibilities, she serves as a Regulatory subject matter expert and has a key role within the firm's Privacy Program. Donna has over 20 years of experience as an Information Professional, beginning her career as a Law Librarian for both law firms and corporate legal departments, and she has held leadership positions within the Records and Information Management departments at Goldman Sachs, NYCEDC and Credit Suisse. Donna served as the President of the Special Libraries Association New York Chapter in 2012 and served on the Board of Directors of the ARMA Metro NYC-LI Chapter from 2009-2011. She is currently serving as a member of the ARMA Metro NYC-LI Professional Development Committee.
Lauren Barnes
Prior to joining S&P Global as Director of Information Governance, Lauren has served as Vice President for Records and Information Management at Credit Suisse and previous to that, held similar roles at Lehman Brothers and American Express. Lauren has also consulted for a broad range of companies such as manufacturing companies, government agencies and law firms providing program gap analysis, strategy roadmaps, policy development and process improvement. From 2008 to 2020, Lauren taught at Queens College (CUNY) for the Graduate School of Library and Information Studies as an Adjunct Professor. Active in the organization for information governance professionals, ARMA International and the Metro NYC-LI Chapter, Lauren is a frequent speaker at conferences throughout the US. Lauren holds a BFA in theatrical design from New York University and an MLIS from Long Island University, with a Certificate in (Historical) Archival Management. She is a lifetime member of BetaPhiMu, the International Library and Information Studies Honor Society, and qualified as a Certified Records Manager. In July 2023, Lauren retired and currently is enjoying retirement by traveling, visiting family and friends, decluttering and looking to pursue personal projects.
Michael Landau
Michael Landau is currently the National Compliance Evangelist for NetApp's premier governance solution- DataSense. He works with the largest global and regional organizations and agencies to drive successful data transformation projects. Over the past two decades, he has managed hundreds of projects for governance, data lifecycle management, compliance, discovery, long-term retention/archiving and technology teams. Michael has a core belief that helping clients know 'what is in their data' is the path to cost and risk reduction and monetization. In a global environment and with privacy laws continuing to emerge, he drives the technology and workflows to manage data at scale and with speed. Illuminating where data consumable forms enabling effective governance. He has a breadth of experience in the design and application of technology to solve IT, legal, and business problems. Michael leverages more than 30 years of IT consulting with cross-industry and practice area expertise to provide the most effective, efficient, and safe technology, tools, and workflows. For the last 10 years, he has been designing and providing solutions leveraging AI, ML and NLP. Also implementing and training models for classification, predicative coding and analytics focused on file and document governance and discovery for highly regulated industries, government agencies and corporations. Michael is an avid photographer and techie as well as a handy builder and repair tech for all things home and technology. He is excited about his decades of service volunteering in non-profits in his profession as well as for social welfare and humanitarian organizations in NY, NJ and globally. He is currently serving as Treasurer on the ARMA International Board and founding board member of the Global Information Consortium. Michael is also active in eDiscovery, legal technology and information governance organizations and communities.
David Smythe
David Smythe is a strategic leader, developing and implementing a breadth of data and information governance capabilities, technologies, processes and policies for risk mitigation, cost reduction, automation and operational effectiveness. He has over 20 years of financial and broader industry experience in the development of global information governance programs, eDiscovery, data protection, digitization and banking support functions. His roles have involved strategic planning, program development and operations normalization for structured and unstructured data discovery, classification and preservation. Related efforts include data retention, defensible disposition, data mapping, workflow automation and application decommissioning. Previous work efforts have yielded enhanced control and process efficiencies along with substantial cost reduction. His education includes a BA in Economics and an MBA in Finance.
